Belvedere Elisa Bonaparte

A powerful and essential landmark that engages with landscape, history, and memory. The Elisa Bonaparte Belvedere project stems from an interpretation of Elisa Bonaparte’s character—a strong, independent woman deeply connected to the sea and the horizon stretching toward her native Corsica. The intervention is carefully integrated into the setting of the Leonardian Walls, creating a new space for observation and contemplation. A rough-hewn marble block supports a slender double steel blade extending toward the sea, generating a visual tension between weight and lightness, stability and momentum, matter and imagination. The artwork reshapes the belvedere’s spatial experience, inviting visitors into a reflective and emotional journey. The architectural gesture becomes a metaphor for the desire to go beyond, transforming the horizon into a symbol of freedom, memory, and aspiration. This site-specific installation interprets the place through a contemporary language, establishing an ongoing dialogue between people, landscape, and history.
